“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
― Oscar Wilde
Methuselah, the oldest man in the bible, who lived to be 969 years old. Descendant of Adam and Eve and grandfather of Noah. Methuselah, one of the oldest living trees at 4,846 years of age. Methuselah, a star that is older than the universe itself at 14.5 billion years. Methuselah, a 6 liter bottle of wine.
Methuselah, makes me want to do a Zumba move that involves a body roll when I say it (if you see any of my Zumba groupies, especially the ethereally lovely Rachael Plaine, have them demonstrate the Methuselah Body Roll)
Methuselah, my vision in my head, brought to this plane of reality. Taking that first step, so shaky and fraught with crushing fear and doubt. Kept repeating “you don’t have to see the whole staircase, just the first few steps”, “a journey of a thousand miles start with the first step”.
A reflection of what I find beautiful. The clean lines remind me of my first fine dining experience (Gramercy Tavern in NYC with my dearest, loyalest friend Vanessa). Growing up very modestly, the stunning vision of a restaurant such as Gramercy Tavern was something to savor. An invitation to invigorate all the senses. Then the privilege and luck to see even more gorgeously laid out and beautifully crafted eateries. And the Berkshires. How I absolutely am in love with this place. Its glorious charm, rustic ease, the gorgeous trees, hiking grounds and visually arresting sceneries. Pittsfield! How I love its people and their strong support!! And how fortunate I am to know so many talented people – from artists, to musicians, to photographers, to actors, to dancers, to yogis, lawyers, bankers… what a wonderful people and community I am enveloped by.
And how expansive this project has been for me. From losing a job because of it, to gaining three more, each almost perfectly orchestrated on purpose so that I would be forced to meet wonderful people who further expanded my world and help me create the world of Methuselah. From Jen’s P90X Live kicking this old bod into shape, and her fierce intelligence, attention to detail and friendship, to Caitlin’s elegant, beautiful, eloquent, vibrant, endless, tireless, making you thirst for more knowledge of all things beautifully and lovingly crafted in the spirits world. How I’m in love with that woman. To Lina, who so passionately creates these visually gorgeous and delectably succulent works of edible art. So much talent, and more than that, so much generosity, kindness and beauty in their heart. And F****ng Frank from NeoNetTech. His quiet demeanor, strong support and expertly wiring for great sound to round out all our senses. I am so deeply grateful to everyone who has made my dream and vision possible.
